Testimonials

My kids went to both judo classes and camps for several years. From the classes they gained physical strength and endurance. They learned how to fight, how to think quick, how to read the opponent. Several state championship wins prove that.

In the camps they learned combat training, fastened their reflexes. Cross country tracking taught them self reliance and problem solving, team sports improved their team work and comradeship, which endured past the camp time. They enjoyed the time and made good friends.

I’m happy they went to Tsunami. I could see how they grew to become independent, self-reliant, patient and respectful. I see how their tenaciousness helps them at school and I’m sure will help in future life.

From the moment my daughter Emily was just two and a half years old, she started a journey in Judo that would go on to shape her life in ways I could have never imagined.

For 15 years she was guided by her incredible sensei.

His patience, belief in his students, and constant encouragement are incredible.
Through every training session, students learn to push through challenges, respect others, and persevere, not just in Judo, but in all aspects of their life.

Viktor doesn’t just teach Judo—he nurtures a mindset. He helps his students stay calm under pressure, think strategically, and find solutions to the toughest problems. His influence goes beyond the mat. He’s instilling in students life lessons on respect for parents and elders, kindness, and the importance of discipline.

One of the proudest moments in Emily’s journey was in 2018, when she earned a bronze medal at the National Judo Championship. It was a reflection not only of her hard work but also the outstanding mentorship she received from Viktor.

Tsunami Judo is a place where anyone, regardless of age, can find strength—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. It offers lessons that will stay with students forever, building both their bodies and their character. Students can start as early as two years old.

My family will always be beyond grateful for the impact Viktor has had on Emily’s and ours lives.

Tsunami was a great place for my kids! Other than learning Judo and the amazing workout it provided them they also became disciplined and respectful which are such important qualities to have in life. Forever grateful to the Senseis for the lessons they provided my kids.
Thank you!

Victoria is a patient teacher and a skilled fighter, not to mention a solid friend! I had a lot of fun and learned a lot while training with her.

Alexander

My name is Azamat, I joined Tsunami Club when I was 7 years old and trained there
for 7 years. Tsunami is where I grew up, built my self-esteem and strengthened my character.
I cannot think of a stronger, more positive influence on my childhood than this club.
Having had experience with several martial arts clubs, I can confidently say that I
have never experienced anything of such quality before or since. At Tsunami, I received
effective and rewarding training and I could witness my own progression as I improved my
technique, strength and endurance. I also had the privilege of representing Canada at many
competitions in the United States where I achieved great results. At these competitions, I
tasted victories, learned from defeats, and experienced a level of responsibility as well as
independence that helped me grow confidence in my own abilities.
I was equally lucky to be part of an incredible collective that approached Judo with a
team mindset. The friendships I built have grown into lifelong bonds that we continue to
uphold even many years later. We pushed and supported each other in our training to be the
best fighters we could be. I have had some of my fondest memories with my friends from
Tsunami, both in the dojo and outside of it.
All of this was possible thanks to Sensei Viktor (or just Sensei, as we all refer to him).
He is a man who commands respect and admiration. His teaching style is firm, inspiring
discipline and strength of will. Unlike some coaches that I have worked with, Sensei has a
genuine interest in his students’ success. I remember training to be thorough and physically
exhaustive, yielding great results when the moment came to compete. He provided us with
guidance, but put a great amount of trust in us to be responsible for our own improvement.
There was always ample opportunity to try new techniques, to fail and to learn so that we
could grow as fighters and as people. Sensei is always welcoming to his former students and I
know that, if I ever need it, I can rely on his help.
To say a few last words, at Tsunami Club, I learned about real respect and genuine
friendship. Having our Sensei’s guidance, the feeling of belonging with the team and my own
hard work developed in me a sense of self that made me an independent individual in my
personal life. I was able to stand up for myself and for others, to avoid peer pressure and to
discern right from wrong. My mental and physical health has been good, I have healthy
habits and genuine personal relationships with other people. Tsunami was a cornerstone in
my life developing in this way. Thus, I attribute many of my successes to my time doing
Judo. Out of everything, I am most grateful to Viktor for having given me this healthy
foundation upon which to build my adult life.
